Tiny House, Big Community
The "Tiny House, Big Community" project is similar to the proposal project. Last year's freshman class had built a tiny home for the artists to live in, and this years class is building the community around the home. In our class, we are known as team "20/20 Vision". Our whole team was split into small groups. Each group was assigned to build 1 part of the community around the home, like a communal garden, a theater, etc... My group had chosen the "Outdoor Kitchen". In the beggining, we were brainstorming ideas for the design of the kitchen, and how it would function. Once we had a design, we had visited the community, and we got feedback from some of the artists who were planning to use the space in the future. When we got the feedback, we fixed up our design for the artists needs. When we had our final deisgn, we had to make a model in a building program called "SketchUp", make a Floor Plan that's to scale, and we had to create a 3D model. After we had done all this work, we are planning to present what we had done to the artists, it's also known as a POL, (Presentation of Learning).
Our Outdoor Kitchen design is a storage container. We are planing to buy a reusable container and build a kitchen inside of it. It is eco friendly, and mobile. The first image is our draft model, this was practice compared to our real model. The second image is the artits community where the shipping container will be placed. The third is the sketchup model, this is the more 'realistic' version of the kitchen. The fourth image is the actual model made of chipwood, and textures. The last image is the floorplan, which helped us build both models.
